A superior quality pure Australian hemp seed oil (hemp heart oil)

Vitahemp is Australia’s leading manufacturer of quality hemp food products. This Australian grown cold pressed hemp oil is the best in its class. It is certified chemical and residue free and is made only from pure Australian hemp seeds. Australian farmers are recognised internationally for growing the best hemp plants used in food products. This is because of our stringent quality control guidelines and perfect growing conditions. No other hemp oil produced worldwide comes close.

Be aware of cheaper & less effective alternatives

There are many cheaper hemp seed oils on the Australian market but most of these are grown overseas in China, South America and other parts of the world, and then packaged in Australia. This can be a little misleading for consumers and unfortunately the general quality, freshness and nutritional benefits from these are not as good. Vitahemp hemp oil is made fresh in state-of-the-art hulling and cold pressing facilities in Queensland from only Australian-grown seeds. It comes packaged in a special UV resistant & completely airtight bottle to preserve higher nutrient retention and longer shelf life.

How is hemp seed oil made?

Not to be confused with CBD or THC oil (both of which are illegal to buy and sell within Australia) hemp seed oil is delicious and ultra healthy. Vitahemp have farmers in Tasmania, New South Wales and Queensland who supply them with the best quality raw hemp seeds produced anywhere in the world. These are then hulled in their Coolum, Queensland facility and the raw seeds are cold pressed to extract the precious oil. The cold pressing process preserves all of the nutritional benefits of the seeds and results in a far superior quality oil. This oil is then filtered & bottled in a certified organic facility, independently tested to be free of chemical, pesticide & insecticide residue.

High in Essential Fatty Acids (EFA)

Quality hemp oils like this product contain 80% polyunsaturated Essential Fatty Acids (EFA). These are the ‘good fats’ which your body does not produce naturally and therefore are an integral part of any healthy diet. Hemp oil only contains 9-11% saturated fats, which is by far the lowest of any other type of plant or animal oil. The high EFAs in hemp oil are responsible for many important health functions. These include the prevention and treatment of heart disease, athritis, joint health, skin disorders, inflammation and much more. A diet deficient in EFAs is extremely common across the Western world due to our high consumption of animal fats instead of more healthy plant fats.

3:1 Omega 3 and 6 Ratio

Hemp oil also has the added benefit that within its abundant EPAs are a very special 3:1 ratio of Omega 3 (linoleic / LA) and 6 (alpha-linolenic / LNA). This combination is why hemp oil is often referred to as “nature’s most perfectly balanced oil”. The body best utilises this 3:1 ratio for a wide range of important functions necessary for health and wellbeing. One the next best closest sources of EFAs is fish oil, however it does not contain the same ratio or concentration of Omegas as hemp, and is definitely not suitable for vegans or the many people who do not like the fishy taste of it. This leaves hemp oil as a far better option.

Other nutritional benefits

Hemp oil also contains numerous other nutritional benefits which need to be part of any healthy diet. These include:

  • Protein – although much less protein than raw hemp seeds, hemp oil is still a very good source
  • Antioxidants – vitamin E, carotene & chlorophyll are phenomenal antioxidants which help neutralise free radicals in the body
  • Essential vitamins & minerals – magnesium, calcium, sulfur, phosphorous, iron and zinc – all necessary for a healthy diet
  • Sitosterol – this has been shown to lower cholesterol with the body

Health benefits

Hemp seed Oil contains over 80% polyunsaturated Essential Fatty Acids (EFA) that provide an optimum ratio of Omega-6 to Omega-3 fatty acids – a balance shown to support heart health and promote proper cardiovascular function. Hemp Seed Oil is also a mercury free fatty acid supplement perfect for expectant mothers concerned about the possibility of mercury toxicity.

  • Supports healthy skin and nails – decreases skin dryness to alleviate itching and irritation.
  • Antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties – help protect against the aging process
  • Contains essential fatty acids including DHA – required for brain development
  • Promotes growth of healthy intestinal flora – supporting immune system and response

Recipe ideas and cooking advice

Now we know hemp oil is super healthy, the next question is how does it taste? The simple answer is that it tastes delicious. It has a lovely nutty flavour and many people love it even more than olive or avocado oil. For this reason there are limitless ways you can use it as a flavour enhancer for many types of recipes and foods.

Raw (uncooked) ideas

The best way to use hemp seed oil is to simply drizzle a small amount (20ml per serving) directly over salads, pastas, meats, dips, smoothies, rice, sandwiches, soups or any other food that goes well with a nutty flavour. Doing this preserves all of the health benefits of the raw uncooked product (more on this below) as well as maintaining its full bodied delicious flavour.

Cooking ideas (only use for low heat cooking – not frying)

Although hemp oil has a mid-range level smoking point (165 degrees celsius) it is not recommended to use it for frying food. This is because a reaction occurs at around 150 degrees where unhealthy trans-fatty acids are produced within the oil and the taste slightly changes. Generally you will want to use hemp oil because it is such a healthy substitute for other oils so it is counter-productive to use it for frying. However for any type of recipe that does not require high temperatures to cook (anything under 150 degrees celsius), hemp oil is a fantastic replacement. This includes using it for baking your favourite cookies, desserts, breads and cakes or any other form of cooking where you don’t need a lot of heat.

Using topically to treat skin conditions

A little known but very effective way to use hemp oil is actually directly applying it to your skin. Doing so can help promote healthy skin and aid the prevention and treatment of certain conditions. To do this simply apply a small amount to your finger and rub into the desired skin region. Repeat this every morning and night as part of your beauty routine for best results. Before you begin we do recommend first applying a very very small amount to a less sensitive part of your body (arms or legs) and waiting 24 hours just to make sure you do not have an allergic reaction. This should only be done with a pure hemp oil like this particular product – please be careful if you are using a blended oil containing other ingredients.

What others are saying about this Product

Australian hemp food legislation

Despite worldwide recognition of the health benefits delivered by hemp seeds, the Australian government was a little late to the party when it came to officially recognising it as a food source. However on the 12th of November 2017 the Council of Australian Governments approved hemp as a food product and passed legislation. Of course this was due in large part to hemp also having the capacity as marijuana to be used as a drug which is understandable. It is very important to note that the wide range of hemp foods now available contain absolute minuscule amounts of THC and will not get you ‘high’. For example the Queensland government legislation states…

“Maximum total THC: 5 mg/kg [1.4.4—6(1)]; maximum CBD: 75 mg/kg [1.4.4—8]” (view legislation here)

Purchasing and using hemp foods is 100% legal, safe and internationally recognised beyond a doubt to be one of the healthiest and most beneficial foods when it comes to health & wellbeing.
